Our Mission
In keeping with the missions of DePaul University and its Libraries, the goal of the instruction program is to teach information literacy skills and concepts necessary to conduct effective library research. An information literate individual can recognize the need for information, can locate it using a variety of media and technologies and can evaluate information in order to use it effectively. The instruction program helps students acquire these skills for information use that will help them to be successful not only in their coursework but beyond the classroom and as lifelong learners.
This critical mission is realized through a series of goals that include introductory presentations in required first year courses, integrated course-specific instruction, guides and handouts, and online workshops and instructional Web pages.
