Computers & Software

The Library provides computing environments in each location, complete with software to support academic needs.

Computers

Computer labs are maintained by DePaul University Information Services (IS). DePaul University Library provides multiple computer environments in the John T. Richardson Library and the Loop Library to support academic computing needs. 

Specialized Labs

  • The Scholar's Lab located in the Richardson Library is equipped with higher performance computers and includes 1 Mac  Pro and 1 Dell Optiplex 7010 computer at each media:scape collaboration table for a total of 12 computers across 6 tables. 
  • Mac computers are available on the first floor of the Richardson Library Information Commons.
  • Cintiq displays, provided by DePaul University College of Computing and Digital Media are available on the first floor, across from JTR 109.
  • Three Bloomberg terminals are available at the Loop Library for academic use by current DePaul students and faculty only.  A reservation is required, and priority is given to students enrolled in relevant Finance courses. To make a reservation, stop by the Loop Library reference desk or call 312-362-8432. Remote access is not available. 

Software

The Library collaborates with DePaul University Information Services (IS) and various University departments and centers to provide a wide range of software used for teaching and learning purposes.

Public Kiosks

Public kiosk computers are provided to guests of DePaul University and members of the public needing to access library resources, including government information, without needing to provide personal credentials. Public Kiosks are available at both the Richardson Library and the Loop Library. Please note that some of our databases are only available to members of the DePaul community and require sign on in order to access materials. Printing is available from these machines using the IPFA Service.

Locations:

  • Richardson Library: Public  Kiosks are available on each floor of the Richardson Library.
  • Loop Library: Public Kiosks are available near the circulation desk near the entrance.

Adaptive Equipment and Assistive Technology

The John T. Richardson Library and Loop Library are equipped with adaptive equipment and assistive technology for students with disabilities.

Media Rooms

The John T. Richardson Library and Loop Library are equipped with media rooms that include dedicated audio and video equipment for listening and viewing of different media.
  • The Richardson Library audio/video listening room is located on the 2nd floor in room 205. Access to the room requires a key which can be checked out from the Access Services desk on the first floor. This room is equipped with the following equipment:
    • 2 integrated micro stereo systems
    • 2 Dual VHS DVD Player with 32 Inch Monitors
    • 1 DVD Player with 14 inch monitor
    • 2 flat screen 19 inch monitor all in one DVD Players
    • 2 complete stereo systems with integrated amp, dual cassette player and turntable
  • The Loop Library Multimedia room is located in room 10001, is accessible with a DePaul ID card, and houses the circulating video game collection. This room is equipped with the following equipment:
    • 1 Dual VHS DVD Player with 32 Inch Monitor
    • 2 flat screen 19 inch monitor all in one DVD Players
    • 1 complete stereo systems with integrated amp and dual cassette player
