About Laser Cutting

This technology can be used to cut through material completely, or etch a design on top of it using a laser. The Maker Hub staff can assist you in tracing your graphic, image or hand drawing to be cut and engraved using the Glowforge Pro Laser Cutter.

Glowforge Pro Laser Cutter

The Glowforge Pro Laser Cutter cuts and engraves wood, acrylic and leather. The Maker Hub provides ⅛ inch medium draft board 12” x 20” for laser cutting. You can cut and engrave images and drawings on the draft board. Hand drawings and prints should be black and white for best results when using the trace function on the Glowforge Pro laser cutter. Users can choose to bring their own materials. The materials must be proofgrade and purchased from the Glowforge website. The Glowforge Pro laser cutter can engrave glass, coated metal, marble, anodized aluminum, titanium, some phones, tablets, and laptops.

Only materials that have been approved or provided by the Maker Hub staff can be used in the laser cutter.
