Kristin Lansdown is the Librarian and Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) Coordinator for the University Library. In her role, she is an advocate for staff needs, performs outreach, engagement, and programming in collaboration with student support services, and overall works to improve the library's collections, policies, and practices with an eye toward IDEA.
Kristin is a Double Demon, graduating from DePaul University with her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Women and Gender Studies in 2014, and her Master's of Education in Counseling in 2017. She then went on to obtain her Master's of Science in Library and Information Science, from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2019 through the LEEP program.
Kristin has been working in libraries since her sophomore year of college, when she became a Circulation Student Assistant at the Richardson Library. She remained in that role until 2017 when she graduated from DePaul and transitioned to the Oak Lawn Public Library as the Library Associate for Adult Fiction. As part of her library and information science degree program, Kristin cataloged the DePaul University Center for Black Diaspora Reading Room into a
searchable database. After completing her Library Science degree, Kristin became the Diversity Resident Librarian for Open Educational Resources at the University of Wisconsin Madison. She then returned to DePaul and began her role as Librarian and IDEA Coordinator in July 2022.
Her professional interests include Black Feminist Practice in librarianship, Trauma-Informed Librarianship, diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, student outreach and engagement, and exploring how the academic library can increase student success, increase graduation rates, and promote retention for marginalized student populations.
Kristin is a member of the American Library Association (ALA), Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), and National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA). She is also a 2017 - 2018 ALA Spectrum Scholar Alumni, a program which provides scholarships and support to Black, Indigenous and People of Color students pursuing a graduate degree in library and information science.
In her personal time, Kristin enjoys watching lots of television and movies, gaming (Tabletop Role-Playing Games, board games and wholesome games on her Nintendo Switch), reading (novels and graphic novels), flow arts, and crafting.
