Heather Jagman

Heather Jagman earned her MSLIS from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, and her BA in English from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa.


Before she came to DePaul, Heather was a reference and instruction librarian at Northwestern University’s Schaffner Library in Chicago, Illinois, and prior to that she was the instructional services librarian at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. Heather is an enthusiastic generalist who provides library instruction and research assistance for The Theatre School, the College of Education, and the first-year writing program at DePaul. 

With Troy A. Swanson, Heather co-edited the 2015 book, “Not Just Where to Click: Teaching Students How to Think about Information,” which was awarded the 2016 Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Instruction Section Ilene F. Rockman Publication of the Year Award. With her co-author Paula Dempsey, her 2016 article, "I felt like such a freshman": First-year students crossing the library threshold” published in portal: Libraries and The Academy was named one of the American Library Association Library Instruction Round Table (LIRT) Top Twenty Articles of 2016. 

Heather is a past president of the Illinois Library Association (ILA) and remains an active committee member in ILA. She is also a member of the American Library Association (ALA) and the Association for College and Research Libraries. She enjoys public speaking and has presented in-person and online at numerous conferences over the years. ​
