Liz Becker is the Loanable Technology Circulation Supervisor. Liz provides oversight of the daily operations of the Library’s loanable technology service, managing circulation, inventory, and maintenance of equipment available to students and faculty. They supervise and train student employees, ensures smooth technology lending processes, and collaborates with library and campus partners to support academic technology needs.
Liz graduated with their Bachelor of Arts in History of Art & Architecture from DePaul University in 2021. They then went on to earn their Master's of Arts in Library and Information Studies from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2025 through their online program.
Their experience in GLAM institutions began as in high school with volunteer work with the Thomas Ford Memorial Library’s Youth Services and a Summer Research Internship at the La Grange Historical Society, followed by working as an Art History Research Assistant in the DePaul History of Art & Architecture Department. During their freshman year of undergrad, Liz began working in the Richardson Library as an Access Services Student Assistant. They held the role until graduation in 2021, after which they returned as a part-time Access Services Supervisor the following fall before getting promoted to their current role in October 2022.
Professionally, Liz’s interests include LGBTQ+ art, contemporary art, queer theory, museum studies, information literacy, and disability studies. They are a student member of the American Library Association (ALA), as well as the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), the Gaming Round Table, and the Rainbow Round Table.
Liz’s contributions to the Richardson Library have been recognized with the DePaul Staff Recognition Award in both 2022 and 2024.
Outside of their professional life, Liz lives in Chicago with their two cats, Twiggy and Cat Stevens. They enjoy playing video games (narrative horror titles like The Quarry or silly games like Balatro) as well as cooking, crafting, and photography.
