Open Educational Resources (OER)
Open educational resources (OERs) are educational materials available at no cost and include legal permission to freely use, share, and build upon the content. OERs give educators the ability to adapt instructional resources to the individual needs of their students, to ensure that resources are up-to-date, and ensure that cost is not a barrier to accessing high-quality, standards-aligned resources.
DePaul University is a member of the
Open Textbook Network: please contact
Sue Shultz for more information on how you can incorporate open textbooks into your syllabus.

DePaul Library Digital Collections
The Library's
digital collections are available for use by anyone to use for the purposes of scholarship or education. These online collections include freely accessible texts, maps, images, and other digital objects that can be downloaded or linked to.
The Library's digitization services can also digitize physical items for you, for use in instruction or research. See our
digitization services page for more information.
In addition, the Library has resources like
ArtStor, which can be used in scholarly articles and other publications.
HathiTrust Digital Library
The Library is a member of
HathiTrust, an immense, continuously updated digital collection providing enhanced search and availability of millions of public domain, in-copyright, and permissioned digitized books, federal government documents and serial publications in a variety of languages from sources such as Google Books, Internet Archive, Microsoft and initiatives at partner academic and research institutions. Though the portal is open to the public, logging in with your Campus Connect credentials opens up additional functionality such as full PDF downloads of public domain and permissioned works and options to create and share content collections.
Learning Environments
There are multiple options for teaching and learning environments in the John T. Richardson Library on the Lincoln Park Campus, from a meeting room, a Zoom+ teaching/meeting space, the Maker Hub and more. Learn more about JTR's work spaces.
