The Vincentian Archives Policies

Access to collections in the Vincentian Archives is provided under the existing Special Collections and Archives policies. Collections are available in-house to students, faculty and researchers. Limited reproductions of collections may be possible to fulfill certain specific research needs.

Some of the files have additional guidelines for use:

  • Personnel Files: Archival materials in the Personnel Files for deceased or presumed deceased individuals will be made available to researchers 25 years after the death of the individual, or for a former member of the Congregation, 50 years after their departure. Access prior to this elapsed time is subject to permission from the provincial superior and/or his delegate.
  • Provincial Files: Archival materials in the Provincial Files generated within the last 25 years as of the present date will be made available subject to permission from the delegate of the provincial superior.

Permission to publish any records in their entirety, or a substantial portion thereof, must be requested in writing prior to publication from the delegate of the provincial superior of the Western Province for archival matters. The researcher has the sole responsibility for obtaining this written permission. The Vincentian Archives must be cited as the source of these materials.
