Reference, Instruction and Academic Engagement

We are educators who support the diverse learning and research goals of the entire DePaul University community. Using an instructional approach, we collaborate with students and faculty to develop research competencies, cultivate critical thinking, and foster lifelong learning, across the continuum of information needs.

The following values inform our everyday practice as research librarians:

1. We value the individual needs of each patron. We personalize our services to meet the individual needs of each library user and to create a welcoming and inclusive learning environment.
2. We value our role in supporting every stage of the research process. Research is complex; we provide support throughout the entire research process from choosing a topic to finding a place for publication and everywhere in between.
3. We value innovation. Our services reflect the newest developments in teaching, learning, and research methods.
4. We value our visibility and central position within DePaul's learning community. We are positioned to meet the needs of all DePaul learners and researchers through online and in-person service points.

Research Help
Reference librarians are available at service desks in each library to help you find information and provide research assistance, whether in person or by telephone, email or chat.

Library Instruction
The goal of the instruction program is to teach information literacy skills and concepts necessary to conduct effective research.
